May 15, 2009: Interview with Ken Noonan

I had the pleasure to interview Ken Noonan, Partner for Capital Planning Partners, LLC located in San Jose at 1 Almaden Blvd # 610 San Jose, CA 95113 - (408) 999-0696

Roe:  Why did you choose to be an entrepreneur?

Ken:  After a successful 20+ year corporate career with venture backed start ups and established public companies, I founded a community-based Bay Area financial advisory firm.

Roe: What has been the toughest experience so far?

Ken:  Reinventing myself.  With my years of business experience I had the business acumen; however I needed to learn a new industry and obtain the various licenses and expertise required to service clients.  Although this was challenging it was also very rewarding.

Roe:  What are the perks or what have you enjoyed about being an entrepreneur?

Ken: Running your own firm has its headaches but it also allows you the flexibility to balance work and personal life.  The most rewarding is developing people that work with us and also earning the trust of our clients.  We develop long lasting multi-generational relationships with our clients and families.

Roe:  What is your business venture (elevator pitch)?

Ken:  Capital Planning Partners, LLC is a premier provider of wealth management solutions assisting affluent individuals, corporate executives and business owners with their wealth accumulation, preservation and transfer goals.

As a fee-based wealth management firm, we advocate planning and asset allocation.  We do not believe that heavy trading or market timing is the prudent path to financial success.

We engage our clients in a comprehensive planning process that encompasses all areas of wealth management and financial planning. This includes:

•    Portfolio Analysis and Recommendation
•    Retirement Planning
•    Life Insurance
•    Estate and Wealth Transfer Planning
•    Business Succession and Exit Planning
•    Executive Compensation
•    Qualified Plans and Non-Qualified Plans
•    Stock Option Analysis and Action Planning

Roe:  What are you looking for (funding, people, services)?

Ken:  We constantly look for good people to bring into our organization.  Ideal candidates are experienced business persons with skills in business development, sales and/or finance; however they need to have a personal or business network that they can approach within the affluent individual or small business owner target markets.  We will develop the candidates in the area that best fits their desire and experience level.  Excellent candidates include individuals from financial advisory firms, retiring CPA’s, estate planning attorneys, or retired bankers.
