May 15, 2009: Interview with Mike Sudia

I had the pleasure of interviewing Mike Sudia, founder of DMS Innovation. Conformable - Innovative - Valued... the three fundamental principles of DMS Innovation, a company created to improve existing home and business processes within current standards and tools allowing improved functionality through ease-of-use, high-quality products. Currently DMS manufactures environmentally friendly "green" reusable pizza boxes for use by pizza restaurants and their customers.

Roe:  Why did you choose to be an entrepreneur?

Mike: I chose to be an entrepreneur because of the ideas that I have had. Ever since the first company, a non-profit called C.O.U.R.T. to support public tennis court availability, access and services in 1974, the things I think of are often times not being done where I can join in to an existing group or business, so I created them.

Roe:  What has been the toughest experience so far?

Mike:   Letting go of my first patented invention. After several iterations and revisions, the market did not accept the product at the necessary cost.

Roe:  What are the perks or what have you enjoyed about being an entrepreneur?

Mike:   Being involved in most every aspect of business growth or operations. The variety is challenging yet very comforting. Choosing when to work and when to play, even though work and play are often toward the same business goal or effort.

Roe: What is your business venture (elevator pitch)?

Mike:   We have invented a reusable pizza box for both commercial delivery use and consumer takeout and are manufacturing and selling them to both markets.

Roe: what are you looking for (funding, people, services)?

Mike:   We are looking potentially for funding, people definitely, at a minimum -a forum to learn, share, improve, (both personally and professionally), and be a part of the community.

If you have a restaurant and you do “to go” pizza, check out “The Pizza Pallet” and if you are an individual pizza lover a “Hybrid Pizza Box” seems like a must have.  Check them out on the DMS website.
